The bathroom saga extends to it’s second month now.  In fact, it has gone on so long now that it deserves a fancier typesetting, like The Bathroom Saga.  The floor is mostly done with the exception of just a couple of small tiles we need to clip, mortar, grout and seal.  The YTBNG and I [...]

More funny stuff from McSweeney’s.  Do yourself a favor and read Six Breakfast Cereals Argue Why They Should Replace Cheerios as the Preferred Finger Food for Babies by Kate Hahn.  My personal favorite is Alpha Bits making it’s case to be the finger food of choice.  I’ve actually seen Alpha Bits being used, but not [...]

Like a puppy who doesn’t want to let go of an old sock, I’ve dived into investigating this whole podcasting thing out. That’s what I’ve heard intellectuals do; before they try anything, they read about it first…or so I’ve read. Anyway, I bought this book which had some good information on podcasting itself and actually [...]

Quick update on the bathroom:  grouting is done, we sealed it today and I shaved off part of the door and we have a door again.  Put the sink back in but because of my relative inexperience with these things, nothing was sealed right and when water did fall, it went right through the floor.  [...]

Tonight we had dinner club at a restaurant called Masa located on Nicolette Mall in downtown Minneapolis. Until just now, sitting down to get the website address of this place did I realize that this is one of the dining establishments under the big tent that is D’Amico and Partners. Knowing that before I went [...]

New Tiki Bar TV

Feb 152006

New shenanigans from the folks over at Tiki Bar TV, this time with the old Skull and Bones.  It is, in my estimation, okay.  Not as good as Red Oktober or Volcano which had great wacky energy.  Somehow Lala seems curiously disinterested and disengaged.  Take a peek if you want.

I’ve been watching Babylon 5 from Netflix lately and have loved watching the show.  To me, it’s been the best science fiction series and possibly the best TV drama that I’ve seen on television.  Watching just an episode here or there is not the way to watch this show, so through Netflix, I’ve managed to [...]

Bathroom update: grouting is finished. More or less, anyway. As much as I’m going to do at any rate. There are a few tiles that I have to do that either didn’t get very good mortar under them to bind or just didn’t get cut. There’s only three of them and they’re all around the [...]

Y’know, people don’t like reading long posts, or commenting on them.

I was able to take a little extra time today and finish reading Bill Bryson’s A Walk in the Woods which after finishing, I felt a very slight sense of loss. I didn’t know that the book was actually a primer on what my day today would be like. I’ve been looking forward to today [...]

I like being busy.  Or at least I like being busy doing things I want to do.  I mean, who doesn’t, right?  Playing broomball is a bit of a release for me.  I’m not great at it, but since week one, I’ve shown a good deal of improvement.  And it keeps me a bit busy [...]

Home projects sometimes breed memories, good and bad.  Take for instance when I was growing up, my parents decided it was time to build a new home.  I was only twelve or thirteen at the time and there are a lot of fond memories that go with building something together as a family.  I remember [...]

Groundhogs Day!

Feb 032006

It’s February 3rd! I know, it’s not actually Groundhogs Day which was yesterday. I always think about Groundhogs Day fondly. Partially, because it’s a silly holiday and I like silly holidays. Oh it’s not on a level of International Talk Like a Pirate Day but it’s still kind of fun. And it’s the birthday of [...]

Tasty Wine

Wine tasting is like watching a foriegn mystery movie in another language. If you don’t understand the whole thing, it can still be enjoyable, but you still feel like you’re missing out on something. Such was last night as we went to Brits for the Twin Cities Uncorked event. The night was billed as a [...]
