Tidbits from the Past Week

Let’s get the big mystery out of the way, that being  The Pet Shop Boys video I tacked onto the last post.

My wife and I enjoy the Flight of the Conchords and we were listening to one of their albums.  One of their songs is a dead-on parody of the Pet Shop Boys called Inner City Pressure, right down to the synth styling.  It’s not their best song, but it’s funny how close they are in the style of the video.  Here it is:

Two mentions of good friends here:  first of all, our very good friends over at Think Lynsen shot us a text over this Thanksgiving.  They were our game buddies, our brunch friends, our super-fun friends who we miss awfully much.  I’m mostly posting this in hopes that they will see it and will understand that we’re in cell-phone hell right now and can’t even get out a text from our phones and send our very best to them from here.

Second, I had a chance meeting with an old friend from high school as our family decided to go out bowling.  It was good to see someone who I spent many a weekend with during the school year as we were out at debate, oral interpretation and various music events.  Seeing that they live not far from us, I’m looking forward to reconnecting with someone who I had spent so much time with in the formative years.

Tomorrow being the last day of NaNoWriMo, I’ll have thoughts on this year’s attempt and thoughts on writing in general.
