Ah, Nina’s

I’m currently at one of my favorite places in the world, Nina’s Coffee Cafe in St. Paul on the corner of Selby and Western.  Nina’s is pretty unique in that it owes a touch of gratitude to writers for its critical first year of existence.  Nina’s was the gathering point for the kick off party [...]

The Last of the

My good friend Phil sent me some very good coffee recently.  Today, I finished the last of it. Keep in mind the caption here, it’s important. This coffee is special coffee.  Made in Indonesia, this is Javaro Luwak coffee, one of the most expensive coffees in the world.  Normally, I don’t really condone spending outrageous [...]

Some astute people may have noticed that the frequency of new posts on said blog seem a bit random.  Of course, there’s a reason for this.  Before, I would get up in the morning, see my lovely wife off to work, make a latte and maybe chow down some breakfast.  About 10 A.M., my dog [...]

I’m sure everyone has heard about the health care law and many people have weighed in on it.  I’m most amused by the “it’s the end of the USA” commentary and the hyperbole of dire predictions.  Someone once said a good compromise leaves everyone angry (and much to my dismay, I still can’t find the [...]

Life got busy at Casa Boerger this weekend. Audrey, busy little girl that she is with all of her growing, sleeping, wetting the diaper, crying about it, continues to amaze us each day.  We’re trying to suss out the nighttime crying fits right now, but each day is a little more progress.  One month old [...]

My Dog

Missed posting yesterday.  I really wanted to, but with the utter busyness of Sunday and still not getting enough done with one hour lost, it spilled over to Monday.  Today hasn’t been much better.  There’s always a lot to do with a baby around and add a mischievous dog, the hours slip away like water [...]

As a lover of fine coffee, I admire the following link and their determination to somehow make coffee.  Or something.  Regardless, I laughed. Here it is.

Three Weeks Old

Our daughter is three weeks old today.  To pseudo-celebrate, I updated the family page with some recent photos.  Not too many, but just a couple to see how much she’s grown in the last couple of weeks. Enjoy!

There’s just something about having a really good day.  I know that apparently yesterday was supposed to be the International Day of Awesomeness, and it was a good day, but for me personally it didn’t reach into awesome.  Don’t get me wrong, good day and all, but not the heady heights of awesome. Today was [...]

Yesterday I was listening to the Current and sent out a couple of tweets about how they were playing a number of covers that I didn’t like–for accuracy’s sake, I called them remakes because I couldn’t think of the right word.  Cover is the absolute correct word here.  It did get me thinking though about [...]

Tough Days

Mar 092010

I haven’t been posting much lately because the last few days have been a bit busy on the home front.  Sunday I did manage to play hockey (we won, go us) but the juggling to do so became difficult on many, many fronts.  Yesterday and today have been a series of juggling all of the [...]

Mar 052010

Umm, that’s my motivational inner self yelling at my exterior self who does things like control my body.  It’s all very metaphysical right now, hoping the motivation does the trick.  Why, you ask? Yesterday I discovered there is an open fiction workshop at CONvergence this year which really piqued my interest.  Thing is, as like [...]

The Post Pile

Occasionally I’ll look through the posts on my site and I’ll see the ones I’ve abandoned.  It’s usually for different reasons.  A couple of them are actually story ideas that I needed to jot down, so I threw a post about them in a permanent draft, never to see the light of day on the [...]

An Open Letter to Snowmobilers in My Area

Greetings snowmobilers!  As you can tell by the frequency of the sun shining in the area and the temps pushing forty degrees, it’s probably getting close to wrapping it up and storing those noise belching machines away.  I hope you had a fun season running around on the massive tracked crotch-rockets with the abundance of [...]

I would like to start off saying this; all of you parents out there, anyone who has had to be responsible for the welfare of a child, I salute you.  Being the type of person who often reads about any new endeavor before actually doing it, I can honestly say that I wasn’t completely prepared.  [...]
