There’s just something about having a really good day.  I know that apparently yesterday was supposed to be the International Day of Awesomeness, and it was a good day, but for me personally it didn’t reach into awesome.  Don’t get me wrong, good day and all, but not the heady heights of awesome.

Today was a really good day though.  And I can’t even say that it was anything in particular.  Just a day filled with little bits of goodness.  Audrey has been great and also slept pretty well today.  Both Melanie and I caught up on some sleep (still behind but we’re getting there), we got to show off Audrey to some of Melanie’s co-workers who have been really generous, went to the library and talked to one of the wonderful librarians there, took Starla for a walk and got home just before it started to rain again.  Starla, by the way, has been a great dog today.

It was on the walk that I realized it was a really good day.  We took the long way down to Memory Lake and down by the bridge with the dam and tiny waterfall.  The lake itself was frozen over, but the waterfall was gushing and you could tell the movement of water underneath the ice was really flowing.  The skies are overcast, a great big gray blanket over the sky with not even a hint of mottling above to suggest a break in the cloud cover and a slight breeze in the air.

It’s when that tender wind touched my face I realized how much I missed being in a place like this.  I do love the city and what it brings.  I love the availability of so many things to do in a city, but my heart is at peace in a small town.  It’s possible that someday we might move back to a city as the lure is compelling, but to me, small town life is pretty rich as well.
